February 5, 1930 to February 18, 2013
On the morning of February 18, 2013, at around 6:30am, Ishverlal Pranjivan Khatri, left us for a Heavenly Abode after 83 wonderful years of contributions to this world. He peacefully passed away while asleep in his hospital room in Altamonte Springs, FL, with some family members by his side.
He was a true devotee of Sri Ramakrishna and he left this world to join him on February 18th which, coincidentally, is the birthdate of Sri Ramakrishna. He has touched many of us in so many ways over the years. His positive spirit will live on and his concept of “always find something positive in every person and every event” will teach us to live by these principles. He was a father figure not only to his immediate family but to hundreds of others in the community in Florida, California, Zambia, India and many other places around the world.
Ishverlal Khatri helped organize the Sri Ramakrishna Vedanta Center in Lusaka, Zambia in the early 1970’s. Later, after migrating to the United States, continued his activities with the Ramakrishna Mission and various other religious and non-profit organizations. As a founding member of the Hindu Society of Central Florida, he served as its first chairman.
The funeral and cremation services will be held at 4:00pm on Wednesday, February 20th at Baldwin Fairchild Cemetery, Ivanhoe Chapel, 301 Northeast Ivanhoe Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32804. Tel: 407-898-8111.
He is survived by two of his brothers, Dhirajlal Khatri (Toronto, CA) and Venilal Khatri (Tampa, FL) ; five children, Bhagwati, Rajendra, Prakash, Rashmikant and Hitesh; ten grandchildren, Bhaveeni, Manish, Amisha, Jayna, Chandni, Poonam, Bhavik, Janvi, Bhavish and Trishna; and two great-grandchildren, Abhay and Vivek.
